Once used to dry bulbs and store freshly picked flowers from the estate, the historic Flower Barns at Backhouse Rossie are steeped in character and charm. These beautifully preserved buildings were at the heart of the estate’s floral heritage and today, they’ve been lovingly adapted to host unforgettable barn weddings in the Scottish countryside.
Couples are welcome to chat with our head gardener and handpick a few blooms from the walled garden to include in their bouquet, adding a unique and personal touch to their special day.
The Flower Barn offers four interconnecting spaces, each with its own atmosphere and size. Whether you’re planning a relaxed, rustic wedding or a more refined celebration, the barns provide a versatile, all-weather setting that blends natural beauty with historic charm – perfect for wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, or dancing into the night.
You’ll also have complete freedom to decorate the barns in your own style. From floral arches to festoon lighting, feasting tables to cosy corners, this is a space you can truly make your own. No rigid styling rules – just your own vision, brought to life in a one-of-a-kind setting.

The Flower Barns are all yours for your big day – completely exclusive, so you can make the space your own. With four interconnected areas, you’ll have space for an unforgettable celebration, whether it’s an indoor ceremony, a delicious dinner, a laid-back drinks reception, or a lively spot for dancing. Plus, you’re just a stone’s throw from the stunning walled garden and grounds, perfect for adding a little outdoor magic to your special day.
The Long Barn comfortably hosts up to 110 guests for your ceremony – or why not turn it into a chill-out zone with comfy sofas and a coffee station for guests to relax?
The Main Barn seats up to 150 and has been lovingly restored using aged timber from fallen oak, yew, and beech trees (some over 400 years old!) from the estate. Unique features handcrafted by a renowned sculptor and artisan joiner add that extra-special rustic charm.
The Hay Barn is ideal for your bar and the all-important dancing – get ready to party the night away!
The Courtyard is a charming outdoor space, perfect for a relaxed BBQ, spit roast, or gathering around the fire pit, with easy access from the Hay Barn.
